Pastor Karen L. Wilson was born in Boston Massachusetts on August 16, 1958. She is the third of eight children and was raised and educated in Washington D.C. .She attended Hampton University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1983. She taught in the Virginia Beach Public School System for 29 years, and retired in December of 2012 in order to pursue ministry full-time. She is married to James Rockwell Wilson, Sr. and from their union God has blessed them with two children.: a daughter, Willie and a son, Jimmy.

Pastor Wilson was licensed to preach in 1997 and ordained in 2000. Shortly thereafter she assumed pastorship of Temple of Peace. She considers herself trained in the School of Hard Knocks, under the instruction of the Holy Spirit of the living God. She carries degrees in holiness, righteousness, and sanctification , and has been ordained to preach, teach, and pastor through and by the anointing of Jesus Christ. Her motto for ministry comes from
I Corinthians 15:10 and 11:“… by the grace of God I am what I am: and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Therefore whether it were I or they, so I preach, and so ye believed.”​
